  #152 View From the Window
Entry 27 of 28
night lights       ©2015 dk
Olympus E-M5       27th place, 12 points
6s, f5, ISO 800, 24mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash
Post-Processing: slight sharpen ACR
adjust shadows
clone noise
Extra Info: View from my favorite spot in room loaded with windows. The home down across the woods and ravine keeps many lights on, and yet, on some nights, I can still see the stars.

When you really look into this photo, there is a wonderful amount of detail, but it's just a bit too dark for my liking.

I must admit I like this though I needed 2 pair of glasses on top of each other to really see it .. Would not hurt to open up the dark areas a little for easier access to what's there.

Love this photo, and how you manage to include the frame of the window without it taking attention away from the view. Love the yellow fire-like glow with the reddish shadows. Slight noise at ISO800. Maybe an even longer exposure at ISO100?

While I'm sure you intended this to be dark, but on my monitor, it's too dark to see. A little fill light could bring up some shadow detail without wiping out the stars.

My first reaction was this is way too dark but it's a very pleasing image and I like the subtle colours.

I can see the stars but that was only after I realised there wasn't a fire in the background. Love the delicate details and play of light in the trees. Understated is good here I think. This reminds me of what forest actually look like when seen in the night. Almost missed the window frame and it perspective took a bit to grow on me. Shame to see such a waste of electricity but it's certainly served you well :-)

I can sense the wonder of this place but the image looks a little off tone; maybe it just needs a longer shutter at a lower ISO.

Really, this is just too dark. With a better exposure maybe I could see better what is going on. I do see that it could have a nice mood.

This appears extremely dark on my screen, to the point of being unreadable, yet your PP info says you adjusted shadows. Maybe a problem with your screen brightness setting.

matches the title despite the lack of a "window" element

Just too dark; can't see any details, except the yellow of a light or small campfire.
