Panasonic DMC-GX7       29th place, 20 points
1/250s, f7.1, ISO 125, 52mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Photoshop CS5; levels, shadows and highlights; transform - skew, unsharp mask.       Extra Info: IMHO, the relatively old-fashioned telephone pole on the left helps to frame this image and the wires draws one's eye to the long-abandoned, graffiti-emblazoned grain silos. Paradoxically, this once vibrant industrial complex provides a view of a vibrant city.

I would have cropped out the bottom wire. I like the way the top two add to the framing. You certainly caught the desolation of the area. There are obviously some daring Graffiti artists around going by the painting below the widows on the left. Nice capture.

the pole works. you can imagine the view from the top of the tall building

Nice color and composition, but not terribly interesting visually IMO. Is the pole bent, or do you have some barrel distortion?

I think you're right. The wires and pole add depth and interest to the photo. I tried cropping it to the buildings and the photo loses a lot of impact.

Maybe, but I just find the pole and wiring distracting until I imagine the shot without them and realize the contribution they make. Nicely framed with good geometric angles thanks to the pole and wire that take a static flat scene and add depth and dynamism.

    Theme - 4
Technical - 4
Composition - 3 Pole seems to close to top and left edge; prefer more if line didn't clip the building; juxtaposition against skyline is interesting
Originality -3
Overall Impression - 3 The distance from the main subject loses detail; mostly just two large brown rectangular shapes

Great shot, great focus, great colour

There's something about the little path meandering between the two silos off towards the city that I just love.
