Great dramatic effect with the black and white. Love the way it is framed with the trees either side.

Thanks for the comments and the votes! I'll put up an outtake of it in colour soon for you Queen Esther.

interesting composition and good choice of black and white. looks like a difficult exposure - would it be possible to try and recover the burnt out loud highlights?

Love the cranes, which are becoming the national "bird". I like the B&W treatment, which lends a certain degree of strength to this image.

Good choice of B+W which seems to add depth to the sky. The trees frame the shot nicely.

One of my top picks from the first. Love the silhouette and the framing helps since it is irregular and contrasts with the crane booms so well.

the cranes stand out well from the cloudy sky

Great use of B&W to bring out the almost fragile detail in the cranes. The turbulent sky adds a lot of movement to the photo.

Dramatic lighting, but the regular spacing of the three largest cranes makes the composition rather static. You might consider a slightly different vantage point.

Well done excepting I would have done anything to get the trees out of there. They conflict with the industrial tone and not in a way that enhances for me.

Very nice in B&W, great lines against the dramatic sky.

I like how you have made these machines of great strength look very spindly!

I like the way you have exposed for the clouds and used black and white here. The cranes make an interesting pattern and the trees in silhouette frame the composition nicely.

Theme - 5
Technical - 4
Composition - 3 Too much of the tree on the left. It is a much larger mass than the cranes, so it tends to be too dominant going all the up to the top of the frame. A little bit at the bottom would be OK. The cranes should be the tallest things in the image I think.
Originality - 3
Overall Impression - 3

This is my favorite image, among many very good ones.
The composition stands out, as it took a very good eye to visualize(I'm pretty sure this shot wouldn't have been an obvious choice for most of us). Also effective is the silhouette lighting in B&W. For goodness sakes, even the sky was co-operative!
I can't think of any worthwhile constructive criticism. I'll leave that to someone else.

I presume this is the same person who did "He's not pulling his weight". What I see here is a masterful repositioning of the cranes into a different but equally strong composition that tells another story - and in B&W this time. Nicely done!

Good subject but don't like the sky

Nice drama to this shot in B&W. I'd love to see what it looked like in colour in the outtakes.
