Ice Road       ©2015 Mepo
Canon EOS REBEL T3i       19th place, 52 points
1/800s, f11, ISO 200, 332mm, Aperture Priority, Center Weighted Average, no flash

Post-Processing: Crop, Adjust levels, contrast & brightness.       Extra Info: This was an ice road with cars on it until a couple of days back. A storm blew in and lifted the ice (75cm - 30cm) thick and broke it up into chunks. Now it's impossible for vehicles. I got there just in time to see this man bringing out his two kids and pulling a toboggan along the 'road'.

(For those that don't get the joke, you've obviously never had to worry about what you see when the plough goes by just after you finished clearing the driveway. I swear it looks exactly like this!)

And I kept thinking, I know Michael hates shoveling his driveway but he is letting it get way out of hand here.

Thanks for the comments. I don't expect this to garner many votes because this is real life not a Kodachrome moment but the experience made a big impression on me and I wanted to share what I found.
I went to this location expecting to see a shiny ice road with cars and trucks as usual and was shocked by what the storm had done to the ice. Once again Mother Nature has impressed me with her power!
Sorry there is not more colour or definition. You don't get either of these in a snow storm. There is also very little light and the camera sees more than you do. I used pp to brighten it a lot as the original was a dull grey. I used extra adjustment on the figures to improve on the originals which were just black silhouettes. Thank goodness for RAW! This was in a heavy snow storm and biting wind. I literally was shooting blind over the top of my camera, kneeling in the snow with my tripod.
I talked to the family when they reached me and gave the little girl my chemical hand warmers which got me a big smile and my Boy Scout badge for the day :-)

Here is a link to a photo of an ice road:

and this is a video of one made downriver (some years back) from the location my shot was made:

I love the interesting subject matter. Good composition and focus. Would've been nice with greater contrasts. Too bad you can't control the sun, eh?

Such a cool shot, just wish the colour had more punch. Tough to get in the snow.

Well composed. Maybe I would have added a bit more lightness to the snow. In my favorites. Are there cars under that snow and ice? The snow has almost gone from here, southern Finland.

I guess there's a road under there somewhere, but this picture shouts "Winter!"
