Great shot - why weren't you sleeping?

Thanks everyone. Your comments made up for my numb fingers :-)
Babysister: At -40 I didn't want any more exposure LOL
Robert - I'll post the original for you. I felt B&W illustrated the cold better.

Looks like Ottawa! But wherever, this made it as my pick of the crop.

    Nice low-key image. Well done.

The exposure here is excellent, allowing the light to pool in the road and cast shadows on the snow. There is enough light in the sky to silhouette the trees and cause the eye to be drawn further into the street.

The well-executed night shot adds interest to what otherwise might be a rather ordinary scene. The car provides a visual focal point, yet is far away and in shadow enough that it doesn't draw attention from the road.

Well done. I feel your pain. Its hard work getting these images for a challenge but you have done a great job. How did the image look in color? Was there any tint in the sky? Perhaps you can post the color image in the outtakes forum.

Oh Boy! This does look cold. You've captured the atmosphere beautifully. I would have preferred a fraction more exposure.

    Theme - 5
Composition - 4
Technical - 5 B&W a good choice for the subject and to avoid weird color casts from street lights. A crispness of that helps convey the coldness.
Originality - 4 Shooting at night places the focus on the road.
Overall impression - 4 Very good.

Great shot looks good in B&W. One of my favourites. Can almost feel the cold just looking at it!
