A View from the Bridge       ©2015 RobertLavker
Panasonic DMC-GX7       5th place, 156 points
1/80s, f7.1, ISO 125, 28mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Photoshop CS5.2; levels, shadows and highlights, transform - skew, crop, unsharp mask       Extra Info: While not the Brooklyn Bridge, which was the setting for the Arthur Miller play “A View from the Bridge”, I like the way that the curve of this bridge’s girder takes the viewer from the upper left of the image, framing a “view”, gracefully out of the image on the right. I also like the repetitive shadows of the bridge railing running parallel with the girder.

I like the curved lines of the bridge against the square buildings. I would like to see a bit more contrast to add solidity to the bridge

Great skyscrapers in the background and I like the contrast of the more curvy lines of the bridge.

I like this a lot and agree that it frames the right hand side well. However I would suggest moving forward or backward a few feet and shooting from a lower position so that the bulk of the bridge uprights would block out the framed view on the left. It competes (and distracts) with the view on the right. This would also put more emphasis on the beautiful curved steel beam which is magnificent. High in my picks.

Suits to the theme. Nice lines and curves, good composition. In my favorites.

The bold, sweeping, on theme, bridge draws you right through the scene. Great lighting and clarity.

Love the color and the contrast between the curvy bridge members and the straight lines of the buildings. Would prefer that the left side not be cropped quite so close to the arc of the bridge opening.

I really like this - great composition.
a bit bright on my monitor, but that's a minor issue...

Lovely image. Well composed and framed perfectly against the backdrop of city buildings. Perfect exposure and focus; well done! One of my top faves!

Lovely shot! I agree with your Extra Info completely. The girder lines are very elegant, beautiful shadow to the right, all against the fabulous skyscrapers reflecting the blue sky.

I like the sharp clear detail of the bridge and shadows against an interesting uncluttered background.

Wonderful shot! I like your composition and sharp detail. Even though it's a peaceful scene it is an exciting image with the eye being drawn around by the interesting angles.
