  #158 Abandoned or Neglected Buildings
Entry 7 of 20

Panasonic DMC-FZ200       7th place, 159 points
1/125s, f8, ISO 100, ?, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Minor crop. Adjusted contrast/brightness. Used Tea filter for effect.       Extra Info: I was surprised to see unbroken glass in some of
the windows but the isolation of this small farm
house keeps it out of the hands of the drive-by
vandals.

The remains of a flower garden suggest that this
was once a treasured home.

I hope the filter effect shows this house still has
some beauty left despite it's obvious dilapidated
state.

Great shot, very effective filter. And the flowers in the foreground makes all the difference here. Just beautiful.

The filter effect makes visible the beauty of that abandoned building in spite of its neglected ugliness.

I really like the whimsical effect that the tea filter has given this photo. Nicely composed with the tulips in the foreground.

This would have been a magical home in its heyday. Even the trees have abandoned their leaves and are adding to the wintery atmosphere.

Not a bad composition and subject, but the processing kills it for me.

I like the image and it is right on the theme. I am not sure about the use of the tea filter. IMHO this filter makes the image look a bit over-exposed. I wonder whether a B&W rendition would have worked better. In any case, it is in my TT.

I like your composition and choice of subject. I really like the flowers, and the sense of narrative this gives the picture.
I think the filter effect - although interesting - is a little strong for my liking, and would be really interested in seeing the original in outtakes.

A very pleasant image and interesting stylization. The impression of abandonment and neglect is lessened by the stylization I think.

I like the way you have framed the subject with foliage and flowers. A favorite.

Has something of a gingerbread house. I like the peaked roof. Nice finding and nice extra info.

The more I look at this photo, the more I like it. The composition is simple, but effective...with the tulips in the foreground and trees on either side of the house, framing it nicely. However, what really "makes" the image, for me, is the processing. Your use of that tea filter transforms, what is already a nice shot, into a memorable one.
