  #158 Abandoned or Neglected Buildings
Entry 14 of 30

Devastation       ©2015 Mepo
Canon EOS REBEL T3i       14th place, 84 points
1/20s, f5.6, ISO 400, 76mm, Aperture Priority, Center Weighted Average, no flash

Post-Processing: Reduced highlights. Minor sharpen.       Extra Info: This is a very old farmhouse that has been home
to several generations. Now the floors are
unsafe (scary) and the building is slowly
collapsing along with its memories.

I tried correcting the distortion but it cut out
too much of the scene and also seemed
to reduce the sense of total abandonment.

Thanks for the comments. Always appreciated and instructive.
Elyod. Apparently my ex-wife agreed with you.
Neat. That's the same reaction I had. I kept looking over my shoulder.

In my favs. I'm amazed you could capture this without artificial lighting. Hope you made it in and out safely.

Looks that it has been a nice home some time ago. I think that the distortion is in line with the general appearance of the room. In my favorites.

Nicely captured (at some risk, no doubt). Love the composition.

Oh wow - seriously neglected - seems like a very dangerous spot to take a photograph.

This is AMAZING!! It's almost like this family just left all of a sudden, the remnants of someones life right in front of us! With some grungey editing this would of been my top pick, you're still in my faves though!

I think it just needs rotating a little-it's sloping down on the left side. Good subject.

Certainly fits the theme and the wide angle conveys the totality of the devastation.

It's amazing the lengths that some people will go to, to get a photo. I wouldn't dare to do this to my kitchen. In my TT.

I really like this entry. I'm not a huge fan of the angle, but I think the subject is top-notch. The bottles on the table add to the sense of abandonment.

Ok this is a mess! Like your view point, don't mind the blown windows. Better to have no details in blown windows than partially blown details. There might be just too much going on here to keep my attention.

I think the skewed perspective works just fine for this image. Lots of "character" in this image and nicely processed, given the lighting available, but I would have wanted to get out of there fast to go home and take a cleansing shower afterward!
