Congrats on your placing eagle1, see your shooting with a d810 now I'm envious.

I think a smaller aperture and greater depth of field would be better, I can see what you were trying. I think it is the first pier on the right that bothers me the most. Hey I still had you at #3.

Hey I agree with jomari and kudos on the 4 sec exposure which makes the image. I had you in my top 3 and frankly am a little surprised this one ended up down here.

    A classic illustration of VP.

Hey, gang . . . it's a 4 second long exposure taken at f2.8! The shallow depth of field will cause areas outside of the main focus (which I wanted to be the projected vanishing point in the distance) to be blurred. Perhaps my bad for choosing this particular scene for a long exposure at f2.8 (the boats on the water probably moved slightly during the 4 seconds) - but the soft focus of the front post is a result of the properties of lens technology - not my shaky hands!!

Nicely done in B&W with the softening of the waves. I find the post in the foreground a bit of a drawback, but otherwise great detail and mood

Great treatment on the theme. The B&W adds a lot of drama to the image. My only problem is that the image seems a bit sof. otherwise outstanding.

I feel I've seen this location in a previous challenge. Very nice lighting and composition, what detracts though is the overall blurriness. Especially the front few posts, but feels like a image taken hand held at 4 seconds.

A creative, delightful picture, perfect in black and white.

Under the pier shots are always good ones, but IMO the slow shutter has caused some loss of detail.

Not sure if the OOF foreground post is a plus or a minus, but overall I like this one. High in my picks.

A strong image, however I find the shadows to be bit dominant. Especially the one in the foreground, this combined with the out of focus pillar takes up a good portion of the image. Maybe a slight crop about 20% would bring these elements closer to the edge and contribute to the image more as a frame as compared to a foreground feature.

Like the soft silent feel to this image. The misty wave effect is great.
