Thank you very much for all your nice and constructive comments! I think B&W tends to turn some people off.

I'm not too proud of the cropping either, but my back was pretty much up against a wall and I didn't have a wide enough lens. I had very little room to crop after I made some lens distortion correction.

My guess is that it is harder to get votes when: 1) the subject is more complex 2) the presentation is more artistic 3) the lighting and composition is less conventional 4) there is a tension brought about by an unusual perspective 5) a lot of people don't know what a subway is.

I really puzzled why this didn't do better. It was my #2 (maybe I cursed it?).

I really like the angle you have chosen for the shot, and the amount of detail you have achieved. I find the railing a bit overpowering, and preferred it when I cropped off some of the bottom. In my faves.

subway in england is a fast food chain
the railing dominates for me a different pov to the left would have been better
the use of the 1.8 has worked well

Nice and quiet there. Not like that in London! Lovely brightness range and interesting angle. GL.

Well composed, but would it be more interesting with colors?

Love the tones, really well exposed and nice B&W conversion. Only criticism is the out of focus railing in the foreground.

I like the angle , as it comes comes from left to right , and goes on and on, good job.

Beautifully composed; interesting imagery nicely processed for B&W.

I like the different take on a subway. Not the conventional angle. Unsure about the tension between the train and the fencing which both compete for prominence as the subject.

Like the feeling of depth and the light/dark contrast, but would prefer the crop to be less tight on the left, with more off the top. Would also like some perspective correction to straighten out the angles in the train and railing.

I particularly like the way the curved railing leads one to the subway. Nicely exposed and composed.

Very brave to go to a place with poor light and an excellent result. I like the composition and the fact there are no peolpe.

The railing provides an interesting curve and line for the eye to follow into the image. I like the use of B&W to emphasize lines/shapes. I feel like the framing/cropping is off -- too tight on left and loose on right and bottom -- so the image feels unbalanced to me.
