Glass Fiber Optic
Cloned off some dust specks.
A bare section of Fiber Optic Cable with a Kevlar Armoured Jacket. It's being fed with a visible 650nm red test source which aids in finding kinks and breaks by glowing the bad section of fiber bright red. (I also think the monochromatic nature of the source causes the odd choppiness of the light in the photo. It's very evident in full crop). The Kevlar Jacket is 1.27mm dia, and the glass fiber inside is 0.125mm diameter. We take extreme care when working with the fiber like this, as broken pieces can launch themselves, or lay hidden, and easily get stuck in the skin or eyes.

Thanks for the interesting extra info. Quite a nice shot too although not quite strong enough to make my TT.
