Old Finn, the program is called CombineZM and is Freeware. It is written by Alan Hadley who is very hands on in working out bugs and offering advice.

Here's the homepage.
http://www.hadleyweb.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/CZM/combinezm.htm

There is also a Yahoo mailing list for the program.

For a macro focus stack you simply import your images nearest to furthest and run the program. You may have to tweak the macros in the program to suit your tastes, and usually some ghosting will appear that needs to be cleaned up.

The program also can be used for increasing exposure range, reducing noise from a stack etc. It really is a great program and the price is right.

    Thanks Sinth.

My monitor isn't the greatest, and neither are my eyes. The noise should appear in the background which is all shadow and I cannot see any, if I had I would have de-noised a bit. The rest is actually the texture of the plant.

Excellent pic. Subtle denoising would have helped or denoiseing a second time but I like it.

I used the free software CombineZM. On simpler shapes like this I only have to do minimal clean up, more complex shapes require more work.

The lighting is natural light. The plant is in shade, but there was a stray sunbeam shining right down on this flower, The light is very strong as you can see right through the leaf almost. As well as stacking for DOF I did so for dynamic range, one shot was exposed properly and the other underexposed a bit.

Wow!!! This is incredible. Great DOF, superb lighting and arresting composition. Can you tell I like it? Always meant to try stacking images (not that I could get results like this :-) but haven't yet. What software do you use?

ooooh la la. Yep, it's all in the light and you've created (or found) some great light here. Beautiful camera work.
