    Well, Jade O...

At least this picture didn' t cause you psychosis like my lawnmower picture in the last challenge :-)

Thanks again for your comment!

Wow. Don't think I've ever seen a voting pattern on an entry like this before. Bascially half of all voters voted for this image and fully half of those placed this image in first place (most first place votes next to the winner) yet 7th overall. The competition is fun but the results seem a little wacky sometime. Either that or as they say in sports, you field a good team but you're lacking in strength on the bench!

My #1 favourite, I really like the mood b&w added here, along with the feeling of "a coffee and cigarette break", for me clearly represents a nice moment in a hard working day... looks also as if it were from a documentary film... well done, good luck!!!

Nice captured moment from a working day. The contrasty black and white suits the subject very well.

The black and white suits this very stark image, the dull uninteresting sky adds to the bleakness.I only hope it's better inside the factory. Goodluck

Great capture! A fag break is an essential part of the working day :) In my TT.

Thanks everybody for taking the time to comment on this picture.

Jade O.: Believe me, I already cloned lots of things but I thought that something has to be left to give the idea that it is a factory.

The guy turned his back because he didnīt want to be photographed and he had to send a mobile message.

The smoking guy isn't Italian but from Turkey.

Aprisole: this is not an aspect they look forward to. This is the ONLY aspect they look forward to :-)

Cheers!

A very good image. B&W was the right choice and the main subject is perfectly captured both technically (placement in the image, direction, size, stance), and practically (the moment is captured exactly). I also find the background nearly perfect. What I cannot decide is on the three elements which on the positive add context and on the negative distract. The wooden pallett to the lower right I think could have been cloned out and the image made better but then some sense of place would be lost (perhaps the compromise would be to darken its whiteness so it was still there but less prominent.) The large spool at the bottom similarly seems unsure whether to be in or out of the image. I think I would like to see it cloned into a marginally lower position so that less of the circle is visible or perhaps darken it so it is less white and prominent. Both pallett and spool "pop" too much in this image for me. But the hardest is the co-worker; in the end I feel he is necessary, adds balance and context, and I love the fact that his back is to the viewer so I would just leave him as he is. You could not have posed this one better and if it was posed, it looks so perfectly candid. My No. 1.

This has a kind of 50ies style. Perfect in b/w. The man looks like out of an Italian film, like de Sica. My #1.

Ok! Time's up get back to work and smoking is bad for your health! :-) Otherwise a cute idea to show an aspect of working that they look forward to.

An interesting idea to show people at work that aren't working. Good luck.
