Panasonic DMC-FX07       20th place, 36 points
1/200s, f5.6, ISO 100, 102mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Crop, enhance colour intensity, resize       Extra Info: We had fun pretending to be tourists in our own city. The Centennial Flame was lit in 1966 to commemorate Canada's 100th year of Confederation. It is found just inside the gates of Parliament Hill in Ottawa.

Thanks for the comments - they are appreciated as always. I did try to crop out the concrete bench around the flame, but it seemed to lose perspective.

I've tried to capture the flame before, without much success, and was happy to get a good shot.

Fantastic image, and a great shooting angle.
You know you have done a good job when the viewer can feel the heat.
My #1 without a doubt.

Sometimes to get those great photos you have to act like a tourist in your own neighborhood to get a different perspective, I know for me I try to tell myself to try & get a different perspective of something i've photograhed many times before. You did a nice job here because this seems like something that you pass everyday & usually pass off as I've seen it many times.

Forty two years on and that Centennial logo is looking decidedly dated (or iconic to the era - I guess we'll need a few more years to figure that one out).
I like the concept but find the image needing a more novel or fresher perspective, though rendering a dramatic flame image in daylight would be a challenging task

Nice capture. The flame is echoed and reflected in the turbulence and colours in the water. I think a tighter crop leaving out the top horizontal surface and some of the left would have made for a more dynamic composition.
