Dodrizzt. Thank you for your comments. They were appreciated. It was great to have so much discussion and was time well spent. Onto the next one :-) Best of luck.

I was very surprised your pic didn't finished even higher, then I could read the forum and the different interpretations on filling/not filling the frame... this could be perfectly the winner in a second round of voting, at least for me :-)
Anyway, as you, I've learned a lot from the comments and opinions in this challenge, and certainly participation has increased, both in pics and in comments, forum, etc., so, really a nice result for the whole challenge, you can be proud :-) well done!!!!

Hi LindyB. I don't think any of your comments were inappropriate. I try never to take offense where none is intended. The whole thing was a learning process for me and I was very happy to see the increased level of participation. I'm glad you liked my entry. See you next time!

Hi Dodrizzt. Thank you for the generous comments. I will take your suggestion, it will improve the final print.

Oops!! Sorry Mepo for my entirely inappropriate comment! I had no idea this was your entry! As I said, your lovely shot would have been in my TT were it not for the misunderstanding. Congratulations on your TT finish!

There are some great entries this time, but I keep on looking time after time this one. The fierce, gorgeous colurs, the detail sharpness, a well balanced composition with the flower filling the frame and the rest as a nice negative space... a truly enjoyable flower pic, even better as it doesn't have any PP applied. Can I give a little suggestion? just clone off the little green leave/brunch at the right of the flower, it adds a minor attention point. But anyway it's a very minor correction. Your pic will be my #1 for sure, very nicely done!!!

Had Mepo made it clear what he meant by "fill the frame" before I voted and commented, this lovely shot would have been in my TT. The lighting is beautiful, and it's a much better shot than some that are in my TT. Sorry about that! You can blame Mepo :)

Franz07. Thank you so much for your comments - I am glad we look upon "fill the frame" the same way! I did try to crop it to see if it would improve but even the slightest crop seemed (in my opinion) to deteriorate the picture.

All this discussion about "filling the frame, not filling it, cropping or not,..." aside!
Your photo is an outstanding, colorful, natural and beautiful flower shot that doesn't even needs PP!
Great! And as the background is almost dark, the flower fills the frame enough for my taste.

Una - I think you hit the nail on the head. I found the photo impossible to crop and still retain its impact. I felt that by standing above a dark background with the sun just touching the flower, empathized the feeling of the sun bringing back life after the dark day of rain.

If you look at my comment on my entry in the open challenge, you will see my comments on the misinterpretation of "Fill the Frame" theme.

Jade O. & rafinmelb - I'm glad you liked the photo even if we disagree on the theme.

I am not sure whether it fits the theme as there is so much background in the pic. The flower is beautiful but hard to crop. (edited Aug 10th: It does fit, as we know now.)

You can't get much more dramatic and the water droplets really help boost this image. But I don't feel it qualifies as a full frame image.

Crisp and detailed. Lovely rain drops. I suspect that at the heart of this there is a killer entry for this challenge, but as delivered it is a good entry
