Jade O. Thanks for the tips. I knew the camera chip was not good in low light when I bought it but I wanted that Leica glass. Will just have to keep trying. I'm sure nothing was moving that night except the dark shapeless thing behind me :-) And yes, after seeing his helmet I'm sure that my son would either be dead or a vegetable. All that training (and a bit of nagging) paid off.

Wow, that is a path with some history! But your son's helmet no doubt saved something more serious; I do my share of risky things but minimizing risk whenever possible whatever you do is just sound practice. In my (limited) experience, my FZ30 hunts a lot in low light so I often go with manual focus (rather than my usual AF) and even if you can't feel a breeze, there is often movement in leaves. Like you, I have found trees lit by lamps especially tricky to do with manual focus (I tried some for this challenge without much success) and the leaves also tend to move to the red end of the spectrum (I'm sure there is some technical explanation having to do with green chlorophyll and electric street lighting but I also took a night shot under moon light for this challenge where everything came out green as daylight.)

Jade O. Thank you. I'm going to have to figure out how to get a sharper photo in low light and long exposures - I have a sturdy tripod but it's not enough. . . Speaking of cyclists, just behind me on this path my son went over his handlebars at high speed, his helmet cracked when his head hit the ground; slight concussion and a broken collar bone but no other injuries. He walked his bike home along this path.

4th and 12th, what do I know?! Congratulations! (and don't forget to watch out for unlit cyclists charging down this path...)

kjwags - Thank you, Appreciate your comments. . . Jade O. My goodness - Cheesy and Ordinary - I will have to try harder :-) . . . wrosenthal - It was bad enough where I stood. A couple came up behind me walking their dog and I nearly jumped over my tripod :-) . . . Lo - Glad you liked it. . . rafinmelb - Your comments are appreciated as always and I agree with you about the yield sign. Glad you liked it - merci.

I love the tones here. Did not think of night shadows, but you did and this works well. I would be tempted to add a little blur to the distance so we do not make out the give way sign at the end of the path which takes a little mystery away from the shot. Apart from that little niggle an early favourite

I'm amazed at the amount of colour and light that shows through, when this is obviously a shot taken down a lonely path at night. It gives a lot of richness to the photo. Well done!

Ominous and quite effective. I would not want to venture further along the path. In my favorites for sure. Good luck.

Well shot lighting wise but somewhat ordinary in subject matter. For me, it lacks a clear subject and the focus seems off.

Definitely looks like a scary spot, perfect timing to enter this photo being halloween coming soon & shadowy places associated with halloween. Like this entry & fits theme to me.
