Let's Play!       ©2009 Franz07
Panasonic DMC-LX3       1st place, 200 points
1/30s, f2, ISO 250, 24mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash
Post-Processing: nothing but resizing       Extra Info: Originally this was planned as a serious, well composed picture of nicely arranged blobs of a variety of different colors melting into one another...
However my model did not know that. She obviously had lots of fun with the paint - and after all that's what it's all about!

Oh, wow... what can I say? Thank you all very much for your votes and very nice comments!
And many thanks to the admins for keeping this great site up and making it better every day!

I would have never thought of winning with my entry - took them all in a rush the evening before we left town for holidays. Originally I did not plan to led the table be visible. Because of that it's just a simple piece of carton on the floor. But after a while we started playing with the paint and the torch and then it was too late to find a white base or backdrop. Actually, like Raf suggested, a white background could have been nicer I guess.
wangi, yes, you are right. A smaller aperture would have been better.
Billy, that shadow is from the torch. It shows this every time when the batteries start to run low (compare with my "Shadows" entry).
Jade, it's no watch, it's the paint. My screen show blue, red, white and something dark.

Great result for a top pic. My #1 and I think the #1 for a lot of us.

Congratulations! Nice to see that my #1 was #1. Top 10 on the other side is not bad either!

Really like the setup and lighting here; only thing I'd change is the focus - smaller aperture to get hand and foreground in focus?

Great entry- my #1 vote for sure!

I like it!...But for my taste I think it's better the one in the "open"...
Composition, light and rendition of colours are very attractive!

I'm happy that your model made this mess up and both of you had a funny time - the result is great!! original, colourful and nicely composed pic, with the deep black adding an interesting negative space. A little minor fault is that strange shadow on the bottom left that darkens part of the paint - but that's a minos one, and doesn't prevent your nice pic from being my #2, great pic, well done!!!
(and keep on with that funny way of taking pics! :-) :-) :-)

I love the texture of the paint, and the vibrant colours,- Sure hope the paint was water soluble!

Fantastic idea for the theme and good composition to show the myriad of colors.

The one problem is the shadow of the hand on the subject matter which probably could have been averted by reflecting some light onto that spot.

Similar to the idea I had planned. :) You did it well. Were all of your shots dramatically lit? I hadn't pictured this kind of lighting, but it's interesting.

Awesome. An early favourite (only two in though). It has an immediate appeal on a number of levels. Colour - tick, composition - tick, technically well done - tick. The one minor point that does not quite work is the colour of the table. I think I would have preferred a white backdrop so that like the black above it is 'colourless' and all the colour is in the hands of the human.

WOW ! This is just fabulous - perfect composition and painted with light beautifully. Right on theme too. I hope you kept the label from the can so that you can match the colour later :-)

Who wouldn't have lots of fun being your model for this! :-)

Hope that isn't your grandmother's dining room table. I like the lighting here which makes the shot and the paint which adds obvious interest and impact. But the wrist jewelery (watch?), is a distraction which could easily have been darkened out.

I think this is a clever idea, but also it rises to the level of good composition and subject matter. The color palette is great and well in keeping with the theme. My top choice. Good luck.
