f_otto - Köszönöm! (I hope that's correct) it's a long time since I was in Budapest. Support and/or comments from photographers who produce such excellent work is especially appreciated.

Thanks Jade - but it does look better now that I have eliminated some of the distractions you mentioned.
Franz - Thank you. I will try to keep the jokes coming :-)

A top ten finish even without the extra PP work!

Thank you all for your very kind comments and suggestions; they are VERY much appreciated. Shortly after I took this the little girl's parents joined her and all three were playing in her pile of leaves. I didn't want to disturb their fun and we had to move on so I never got the chance to offer them a copy of the photo.

The colours in the pic are all great, blue, reds, yellows, greens; the subject is nice... but the great timing to include the little girl in the pic is what makes it definitively a great shot, as she gives the needed element to assume the (huge) size of the tree. Applauses for you :-) and makes your pic to be my #3 in a very, very tough competition. Well done!!!!

Beautiful scenery with the tree, the sky and especially with the child! Very nice colors that you found in real life. Very well done.

I feel that there is a lot of sky, but don't know if the tree would lose it's majesty if there were less. Hard to tell on my monitor - Either way it's a great shot.

I like this. The little girl in the purple sweater makes it for me. I do wish the composition was a bit lower though. More on the bottom and less on the top would make a better impact and balance to my eye.

Raf: Thank you for your comments. You are right about getting rid of more distractions, I have already done that (see jade's comments) and it looks better. I would have liked the girl bigger also - I will speak to her parents about her diet :-) Seriously, this was a true snap shot - luckily my camera was set OK. I stood there for a while hoping for a better shot as she buried herself in the pile leaves but it never happened. I didn't want to lose any of the sky because I love the cloud composition. I do learn a lot from all these comments. Merci.

Lovely colours here with a range of blues and reddy/oranges. Love the little girl, though I can't quite make up my mind if I would like her a little bigger (ie step in a bit and lose a touch of sky). A few distracting background elements. They are quite minor and I would just be tempted to just darken that strip of white bench, flowers and fence down a little.

Jade O - Thank you. As usual your comments are appreciated and, more importantly, on the nose. I just ran out of time after carefully cloning away some other distractions. FYI This was taken at Mackenzie King's estate in the Gatineau Park just North of Ottawa.

This is a powerful shot; the majesty of the tree emphasized by the cloud and the small girl it dwarfs. I would have cloned out the yellow flowers and the birch trunks to the left and the white fence? to the right to eliminate those distractions and keep the focus and impact on the tree and the girl.
