Hi friends, many thanks for your votes and very nice comments!
I'm happy you liked my picture and hope you enjoyed the theme.

Edit: For the next challenges I will take something without hands or a black background... ;-)

Congratulations Franz!! :-) Though I must admit it was not in my TT (I kind of missed a spooky element), I must say that it is a exceptional shot!

Hi friends, thanks a lot for your very nice comments! ...and deeply thankful I take the compliments too! LOL :-D
Alberto, I have a pretty clear idea which beautiful portrait in the open challenge could be from you - right? But I was afraid your models do vary from time to time, therefor I was not 100% sure... they vary or she has a thousand faces. Great!
Billy, LOL! :-D "...careful composition and brilliant lighting..." :-) :-) It took me about 50 tries to get a few shots that were not absolutely blurry. Twice I broke the setup down (dark cloth on 3 broomsticks /--\ leaned against a chair), trying to be faster than the self timer. And the lighting was the headlamp of my son's agent equipment, clamped to the middle broomstick. LOL, so you see there was not much of 'careful'. :-) Thank you very much for this great compliment!
I really love the magician idea you told (please tell your friends 'thanks')! The dark cloth I used for the background was a magicians cape and the trousers of my youngest son's Darth Vader costume. Maybe this influenced the magic of the moment! ;-)

For me, this is one of the best pics in the whole challenge, and no doubt my #1 in main; I can feel perfectly the spooky feeling from those "ghostly" hands (even have a touch of fear feeling!).
Great expresivity in the hands, no doubt due to a very thoughtful and careful composition/setup, and absolutely brilliant lighting to get the perfect "mood"... a clear winner for me :-)
If I had to bet, I would say this one is from Franz... I really like and very friendly envy what he (you? ;-) can do with just the camera and his imagination and good eye, without any tricky postprocessing, my own opposite side :-D If you are not Franz, take this as a great cumpliment on your fantastic job with this pic.
P.S. as a very funny sidenote: As I've told in the forum, last night I was with some friends viewing the pics in the challenge; some of them are certainly great freak fans of roleplaying and fantastic literature (me too :-D) and almost all of them made the same comment on your pic:
"Uh!! those are no doubt the hands of a magician ready to launch a fireball... and that "IS" scary!!!!" :-D :-D :-D

Jussi, Lo and f_otto, thank you very much!
...the neck, the throat,... lol, great!!! I have another version of this, where my hands look more aggressive and a third one looking more spooky (by blur - actually I had a great many of very blurry shots with this self-portrait setting), but I chose this one because it seemed to be more "neutral" and thus left room for everyone's own interpretation (and predisposition).
Now I'm very excited that this seems to work!!! :-D Thanks a lot for your positive feedback - and especially for your rich imaginativeness!

Great job of lighting to create these disembodied hands. It doesn't look ti me like they're offering help - I can feel them around my neck!

Many thanks for the nice comments, all!
LOL! Mepo, thanks a lot and great guess!!! But I'm afraid this time these are my own hands. I had to use the self timer function, run around the setup, sat down, put my hands through the gap in the dark cloth and try to imagine the light spot behind it... I'm very happy you liked it!

Best photo in both challenges in my opinion. Have I seen those same hands covered in paint? You have hit the theme right on the head and the balance of the image is perfect. Superb shot.

These do not look like 'helpful' hands to me. I think it fits the theme nicely. Good technically as well. I am trying to imagine it in color, but I do not think it would be as good. This will be in my TT.

Now I can see this. As a child hands coming towards you in the dark would be scary. Very well done. Crisp and well lit and conveys the mood.

First impression? Longing hands in need of help, not threatening.
