Thanks Dodrizzt - glad you liked it. I knew I was in trouble when I looked at the competition - what a great group of photos. I found it hard to choose too. Have a Merry Christmas

Very nice Christmas pic :-) and the man adds a nice touch certainly, although I can't get rid of the feeling that is a bit "posed"... surely he isn't, and this is my only poor excuse to leave this nice pic without votes, I like others better but also like this one a lot for the theme, just don't have enough votes :-( sorry and well done!! :-)

You're right as usual Jade - I did use a tripod. Ditto with the composition - there was a van parked on the right, and a crooked pole holding a basketball hoop, so I cropped it out. I tried different set-ups, but in the end settled on this one.

Raf, a child would have been much better. I did ask my husband to get down on his knees, but the last time he did that he ended up with me!

In theme and in season. Well done with the shot clarity. Perhaps a child rather than an adult would have added to the impact here.

This is clearly on theme and well exposed considering the challenging lighting. For such a long exposure and such sharpness I would expect you used a tripod. The composition to me needs a little more work though. The house looks clipped on the right and "bracketed" by a tree on one side and yet nothing on the other (since the house runs "behind" and past the figure. Also, I find the subject rather common with no particularly unique or surprising element to it. As such, I consider this more in a documentary style.
