Nice finish Bill! And thanks for the detail on the how and where of this shot.

Thanks to all for the comments and the questions, which I will try to answer. This was taken in Lakeside Park in Oakland, California. During the evening and night, the homeless people are on the streets, meal centers, and some at shelters. Not much sleep goes on at shelters. During the day, many come to the park and lay in the sun and sleep. They will not be disturbed or harassed by police. I drive this route frequently and saw this fellow. The shot was taken from the car, and as you can tell from the EXIF data, at about half zoom capability. It is a candid. The context would not have been particularly helpful here, as it was in Jade's excellent street shots. I chose to emphasize the person and his features instead.

Congratulations - The angle and the detail really made this a winner for me.

Dramatic shot, but maybe with excessive croppnig about the ambient of the poor subject

Good choice to convert to BW here, the harsh, direct sunlight really helps in BW to reinforce the details. A strong, thinkfulness pic for the theme, and my #3, well done!!

Interesting portrait and effective use of B&W. Not obvious to me that this person is homeless so I might have tried a different title or angle or otherwise set this person in reference to more background clues if portraying homelessness was your goal.

Good finding for the theme. Very interesting and unusual perspective.
And those hands tell their story!

Spectacular photo! I'd really like to know how you got it ... did he know, etc.

This is great. :) The contrast is perfect with the black and white, though there are a few highlights I would have tried to recover if possible.

If I didn't read the description, I might have thought it was a farmer or some other kind of laborer taking a nap. I think it's the sharply detailed hands that give it that feeling.

Easily the strongest image of the lot. Love the fine detail and composition. The crop is perfect! The grass at the bottom part is just enough to make it really look like a bed. A bit disappointed though that there was no extra info; I've been always looking forward to the story behind a photo or the photographer's insight. Nevertheless, I smell a victory here. =)
