Chocolates and Strawberries       ©2010 LaRee
Pentax K20D       5th place, 101 points
1s, f8, ISO 250, 52mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: WB adjustment, it was a bit warm so I cooled it down a bit. I wanted a white background but the plate and counter are more yellow than white. I tried to change that in pp. Resized, sharpened       Extra Info: None

Yummy! And the design of the plate looks like chocolate... in my TT.

those are some mammoth strawbs or some tiny mints... not sure if its my monitor but i don't think the foreground of the fruit and chocolate are as sharp as the detail on the leaves. still a good composition and sure to wake up sleeping taste buds. in my favs. good luck. el

I think you did the right thing removing the yellow cast - the chocolates and strawberries show up so beautifully against the white. The detail is amazing.

I like that it isn't a pure white background. Cream goes well with strawberries! :)

Thank you both for commenting. I chose three of each because in my jewelry art class we learned that things go best in threes. ;-)

I see the tint of yellow and think your instincts were right. Did you not have a sheet of white paper, and a plain white plate to shoot with? This is a fresh looking delicious subject but I am a little bothered by the 3-3 pairing of chocolate and fruit - I would have liked maybe 5 chocolates! On closer look the reflections in the chocolate and fruit highlight the similar dimpled patterns in both and the green leaves add a nice touch to a really nice colour composition. This one works very well as it is essentially a four colour shot, with two neutral (white dark-cocoa) and two colour (red green) elements.
