Post-Processing: Photo chessboard, adjust using perspective tool to produce wide angle, place on black background, add real human pieces on board, crop human photos to fit figure, scale pieces to fit depth perspective, duplicate human piece photo layers, adjust duplicate layer to black silhouette, lay silhouette onto board and adjust using perspective tool to create shadows aligning feet of image with feet of shadow, add large human players, replace heads with chess pieces, scale heads to fit bodies and stretch heads to fit clothing necklines, adjust head opacity to create more realistic skin tone, smudge borders of various images where appropriate, resize, sharpen.       Extra Info: Just a fun fantasy for me.

I really love your chessboard. I think that's why I couldn't take in the photo as a whole - I kept trying to get a closer look at the figures on the board. One of my favourite movie scenes is from an early Harry Potter movie where they play chess on a life-sized board.

Many congrats on your TT Jade - although I would have bet for this one finishing much higher!!
Don't diminsh your great jobe here, if I thought this also could be from Elliot, was exactly for the imaginative concept !! (remembered me someway Surfing with the Alien, too :-)
As a side note, lately I use to view the pics in the challenge with some friends on Saturday night and enjoy a lot with their different points of view on the pics; almost all of them thought your pic was superb! not only for the huge amount of work done, but also for the clever idea and the execution (Mepo: LOL!!!! Cylons!! that's also a very funny thought! :-)

I feel very fortunate to have made it into the top ten with this one. I feel many behind me should have been in front. Thank you each for your votes and comments; as encouraging as positive comments are, i am especially grateful for the critical comments which help me learn a great deal.

Edward 48. This is the result of an evolution of thought. I started with something less complex but just kept going.

Lo. I really welcome the criticism. Your point is well taken. I'm not sure that there is a solution to avoiding the two subject problem so on that level at least, this may qualify as a failed image.

Mepo. Thanks, and your guess is good! I, too, wondered about the spacing but also wanted to preserve the shadows and not crowd the board. You make a good point though. But Cylons? :-)

dodrizzt. O.k. Obviously, it's getting hard to hide my PP work! If it was Elliott's it would have been much more subtle, refined and imaginative. Nothing betters Surfing with an Alien! It was a fun piece to work on.

Brett. Thanks but, actually this is more a product of my inability to capture a good real life image for this challenge, I think.

forkcandles. I think your mother makes a valid point!

Top marks for ingenuity. I wouldn't have the patience to produce a composite like this.

This is quite incredible, and I can only imagine the amount of work that went into producing this. I love the pieces, and the vignettes that are taking place on the board. My only criticism is that I can't seem to take in the photo as a whole - I keep being drawn to either the players or the pieces.

Very detailed precise work - I'm guessing Jade but I hope anyone else will consider that a compliment. I find the concept fascinating (love chess and chess pieces) but I stumble over niggly bits in the execution. I wish the players were closer to the board and the pieces were set up in a game formation on the other hand I like the thought of the Cylons (if I may name them) playing with human figures. Whoever this is has lots of patience and skill so I will decline any invitation to play LOL. tt for sure.

Very creative idea... and a terrific execution!! that PP info is invaluable to judge how much effort you've done to create this surreal image... wow!! Also nice for the theme, in that surreal point of view... all in all, one of my favourite images in the challenge, great job, congratulations!!
P.S. can't resist, can't resist... although I'm a bit doubtful here... Jade? this one calls for you :-) or, if not... Elliot? (that surreal touch... :-)
