Extra Info:
you may think i'm pushing the envelope with this filtered entry, but if you look close you'll see that the 'golden hour' elements work well with black and white as well. it was uncommonly cold for here and very breezy and i was late for work as well so i didn't wait another ten minutes for the sun to illuminate the full trunks of the palms.

ok... 'guys' is a non-gender specific term of endearment. i think i picked it up living in the northeast (u.s.). 'yous guys' would be the proper plural. :)
i wish all 'yous guys' had email on your profile. i wonder sometimes if anyone goes back to look at comments on a challenge after it is finished. i sometimes find an older entry that i'd like to comment on but afraid it would never be read.
and jade... you're much too kind. email me... i'll tell you the story behind the alien.

Who? Guys? Nice finish but a really fine result. So many IR-effect shots (not that this is one but conceptually it is the same altered (artistic) version of reality) seem to be the effect over the substance (McLuhanesque medium and the message aside) but here, my sense is the PP effects are merely enhancing the reality (which considering the length to which the envelope was pushed, only reinforces my view that this is a great shot by a great photographer. (There I've said it twice!) I am as light years away from this as I am from surfing with an alien but it gives me something to aspire to.
Now everyone, read elliott and see why it is so important to give feedback even when you don't like the shot. Being critical does not mean you have to be negative. I'd love to know why you didn't vote for this one.

hey... three days ago i looked to see i had one comment...boo hoo. then i saw it was from jade o. woo hooo! then i remembered jade takes time to comment on almost all entries... boo hoo. but then i saw the compliment in the last line of the comment.. wooo hooo! then i didn't see another comment for the whole weekend... boo hoo. but then i turn on computer a little while ago and find two more encouraging comments... wooo hoooo. and now i see the results and happy with placement... woo hoo again.
thanks you guys. thanks for the votes and comments. glad you were able to see the 'golden light'. el

You are right!
There is no need of colors to see the right light.
A beautiful picture!
Composition .... exposure ... the motion of the trees .... and the moon...
My fav!
Good luck!

You're right - good black and white demands good light. Very nice.

Pushing the envelope successfully always gets big marks from me. I think waiting for the light to move would have been a mistake since it probably would have changed the lighting on the bridge (but it would have been interesting to see the two side by side just to see). Great shot by a great photographer.
