The existing building (modern Gothic Revival style) was completed in 1927 to replace the original building that burned down in 1916.

Billy. Don't be so hard on yourself. You nailed me on this one perfectly. I don't know how you chose between me and LO. She was about 1km away (North East) photographing the art gallery at the time I took this.

Don't get any ideas about coming over and photographing here ! There would not be any good photos left after you finished LOL. I have also enjoyed driving around your city but was distracted by all the scenery on the beach - I wish Google did not blur all the faces. :-D

Congrats on your TT Michael!! at least I caught you (more or less) here, but I think I'm degraded from Inspector to Traffic Guard due to your camouflage abilities in Main ROFLOL! :-D
Really a fantastic place for pics, I've googled a bit (more to come on weekend :-) and whoa! :-)

Billy: Many thanks for your comments - they are always welcome. Touché for the ID - Well done Inspector Clouseau :-D. Good observation - the early sun does warm up the stone a lot. Also there is no danger of meeting a politician that early LOL

I can't wait to find out if I nailed (discovered / identified) you again - I was impressed by your skill at identifying the artists and decided to give it a try. It's fun and adds interest for me. I think I am learning more about style at the same time.

I'm glad you liked the arch. The parliament buildings tend to be bleak (bare) so this time I used the entrance to the Prime Ministers office for my arch border. If you google map 100 wellington st ottawa on k1a 0a6 you can then get a street view and can see the problem. Also if you continue East, at the next main street you will see the War Memorial that I entered in another challenge.

Beautiful building for sure, and the early sun gives the final touch, well done waking up early :-)
Not sure what the other mates will think about the framing with the archway, but I like it.
All in all a worthy TT for me, well done!!

P.S. Michael? Lo? almost impossible to find out here :-D mmms... I'll bet, Michael... but anyway, I suspect both of you are in my TT ;-)

Forkcandles - Glad you liked it. I'm not sure if the postcard comment is positive or negative LOL Glad to be in your top 5.

Jade: I will have Public Works remove the lamp post immediately :-) I can't think why I didn't remove it - it would have been so much easier to clone out than the one I did remove (it took me hours!). Note the arched door on the right side - the lamp post went from there up to the third floor - note the misalignment at the base of the third floor windows . What a pain in the butt! Happy to be in your top 5.

I've seen many fine shots of the Parliament Buildings and really didn't like this one for reasons I could not put a finger on. But it grows on you and is now in my top 5. I'm bothered by the lamp post at the base of the Peace Tower.
