1/320s, f5.6, ISO 80, 35mm, Aperture Priority, Spot, no flash

Post-Processing: Adjusted contrast in sky.
Adjusted brightness and contrast of image.
Slight sharpening, then resize for entry.

Oh Michael!....I thought it was from Jade, cause in the past challenge she included a nasty tree in the shot!...I was teasing her! :-))

Billy - I too am a failure. I tried to imitate Jade but couldn't even get her vote :-9 She has gone to the dark (orange) side. So I will take the traffic control at the other end of the field. LOL I enjoyed your story. Thanks again for your vote.

Jade - you have an exc ellent Newfie accent LOL. "Mimi - mimi siwezi hata Spell neufie" That is Swahili for "Not me, I can't even spell Neufie." I prefer to look up at towers. I have an aversion to looking down at them from my parachuting days - ouch LOL

Michael, Yoube a newf inlandr? Twood splen de tye tud'sea?

Billy, You've got a long way to go in matching Mepo's record on picking entries. But surely the clue is in the photo - I would never take a vertical shot of the tower!!!LOL

Congrats on your TT Michael!!! for me it's still the #1 :-) :-)

...and... blush!! @^_^@ OMG!! that IS camouflage, and not the chameleons ROFLOL :-D :-D my badge is turned and now I just order the traffic at the end of the football matches LOL!!
I must admit that, when I was commenting the (real) entry from Jade, for a moment I thought: "...ups ...this great extra info has the quality of Jade's ones... uh-oh... maybe I've missed?", but your extra info have that quality too... "naaa, the tower is surely from Jade" ... and you see, as my friends use to say, "zas! in your face!" :-D :-D :-D
Anyway, horrible detective failure apart, I'm happy you finished TT, and that you've enjoyed my little story too, your pic really conveys me lots of great feelings :-)

Alby - You will have to turn in your badge also. ROFL. However - in view of my wild guesses in this challenge I may have to turn my badge in with you and Billy:-)

Billy - you will have to turn in your detective badge. LOL However I am very flattered that you would think that this was taken by someone whose work I admire so much.

I must admit that hoped I would fool someone, especially when I noticed the blue building and was able to include it in my entry - so don't feel bad.

All that aside - a big thank you for your detailed comments. Coming from someone I try to beat all the time, they are especially appreciated. Gracias por tu elogio a mi buen amigo. I am truly honoured to be your #1 pick.

And please thank Gabby for having a big part in your liking my entry LOL

Even more difficult to decide here my top picks than in main... finally, this one reaches my #1. The image is beautiful, composition-wise is perfectly resolved, great point of view that superbly hides the 35mm perspective distortion creating with it a vanishing point (top marks for that!), great mixture of patterns from the trees and the building oon the right, and the cloudy, boring sky, here creates a "misterious", special ambience (what I was looking for in the pics) thanks to the incredibly tall building "disappearing" on it, nice choosing for the theme!
But the final "ingredient" for being my #1 is a more personal one... when I first saw the pic in the little, "icon" view, it inmediately remembered me the Fernsehturm (TV tower) in Berlin (obviously it isn't, but... :-) that I saw for the first time in a humid, foggy night, that covered it totally except from the top lights inside the mist... I was having a nice nightwalk with Gaby there, and when we reached the tower basement, the fog opened for some seconds and I saw the whole tower over my head and said just "... ...whoa!"... your pic remembers me that night and place a lot. Surely most of the others won't find this kind of emotional link, but for me, that makes the perfect roundup :-)
Congrats on a, for me, fantastic pic... Jade, again? :-) I'm falling in love with Toronto blues thanks to you :-D

Brown04 - Thank you. I tend to agree but it was physically impossible to move from that location and still get a shot of the tower without it disappearing behind the blue building. Going the other way the tree obscured it too much. I did try a crop but it didn't look good (imo). The tower by itself (which is the normal shot) is just dirty concrete and very stark. Jade had a great shot from a different location but my favourite view is from out on the lake.

    Great shot! Maybe too centered?

Jade. 100% agreement about the weather - the only warmth I felt in Toronto was from the helpful people I met. I was glad to get back up North to get warm!

As for the elements. I find most images of the tower other than from out on the lake, make it appear very stark and not as impressive as it is in life. I found this location by pure good luck as I was going back to pick up my car (wet, frozen but still smiling LOL). The building on the right seemed to add perspective to the tower and the trees (as fokcandles observed) softened the view while adding some life (living thing). The left hand building just came along for the ride. In total I think they gave a foundation for the tower. Thanks for your comments as always.

p.s. I did try the Front Street location that you had recommended but the weather almost totally obliterated the tower.

forkcandles. Glad you liked it. I've never seen a shot from this location but also liked the effect of the trees on the starkness of the surrounding buildings.

The weather for this shot was abysmal in Toronto during the latter end of the Challenge period so you've done well to get this. I like the vertical elements and balance in what could easily have been an unbalanced image. However, I am unsure what the four elements bring to the shot.

a lovely angle of the tower, with trees softening the image.
