Congrats on double TT Jade! I also thought this one would have finished higher, a great image for sure, with so many feelings around. Super :-)

As you can see from my vote, this was also a favourite of mine - I thought the lighting was superb, the way it highlighted the masculine features, and at the same time softened the feminine - Love your commentary on the photo and how it mirrors life..

Jade - I screwed up - My lengthy comment on your entry did not register. Probably forgot to press the right button. My apologies, I try to always comment on yours even if I don't have much time. I hoped this would finish much higher as you can see by my vote. I loved the whole kit and kabooldle.

I saw your note to Alberto. Apparently he is extremely busy at work and has zero time available. He will be back soon I hope. Congratulations again for a terrific entry.

I feel fortunate to have squeaked in with this one! Thanks to each for your votes and your comments!

Billy, thanks, but you can see my comments to Lo for a clue to the identities of the models! I'm sure the comments below will clear things up a lot!

For a whole lot of reasons, this is one of my favourite images.

Easy to find out who's the photographer behind this pic, a nice follow-up for "The Cyclist" ;-)
Maybe not so powerful as the previous, but I also like this one a lot, the plays of light and shadows, along with the mirror, makes a great image.
But what I like a lot here is the subtle and very original approach you made to the theme, almost an "abstract" approach with a non-abstract pic... invaluable extra info to understand what you have reflected here, very nice, along with your usual great PP technic. My T5, well done!! :-)
P.S. kinda self portrait? :-) :-) :-)

Franz You have a keen eye! I worked the tone a little to try to take some of the harshness out of the flash effect. [For Lo - Vanity? And if so, whose? ;-) ] As for profound, see my further thoughts below in my response to forkcandles. I figure if I can't always (ever?) make great photographs, I can always always try to make meaningful ones. I don't anticipate this one will do well in the voting though.

By far the most profound interpretation of the theme! Putting my both entries to shame... ;-)
Amazingly good PP. Her skin tone seems to look a little bit too pale to me, but I had to look twice to see this.
Very well done!

Lo Thanks. I think the first line of the info gives you all you need to figure it out. It suggests reality is not reflected!

Of course, then again, there is that word, "Sometimes"!!! Sometimes reality IS in the reflection! So maybe you are right, maybe Jade is here or maybe Jade is simply behind the camera, always unseen, always a little mysterious even to those who know h-- ... ;-)

forkcandles Thanks. Compositionally I really like this one. The image is bisected in the middle and yet appears balanced. The male half is clearly dominant with even the wheel extending onto the female half of the frame. The female is confined to a smaller piece of the canvass and further confined by the edges of the mirror. Is it reality or the viewer's perception that makes that so? Is she the mere reflection of the male or is she really a part now of everything that he is and if he merely looked in the mirror he would realize that? The subjects are looking away from each other and yet obviously connected despite being distracted by the task at hand. Until such time as they look up and turn toward each other, the window to their souls (their eyes) is not visible to the viewer. Despite the male's dominance in the real world, it is the female who, in mere reflection here, clearly controls the image and our attention.

Beautifully done - perfect lighting and excellent merging of the layers. A very interesting take on the theme, that leaves us no closer to the question of who Jade really is...
