Post-Processing: converted from rw2 and resized in CS4.       Extra Info: We live in a suburb of 270,00+ citizens near Dallas. This farm is owned by one of the original families. It is completely surrounded by residential neighborhoods and busy thoroughfares. There are cattle, alpacas and horses right in the center of our bustling city. We pass almost daily as it is only about 5 blocks from our home. On this particular morning I was drawn to the newly baled hay.

Developers must be lying awake at night wondering how they can get their hands on this land and turn it into some ugly development. I hope it can be maintained like this for posterity. In Ontario we have many cases of people buying a house next to a farm and then want it shut down because they don't like the smell of the animals. I liked this shot but did not have room in my tt.

nice pastoral scene in the midst of suburbia. have seen some enclaves like this in the midst of ft. lauderdale's sprawl.
without some big clouds in the sky, i might have cropped closer to the top of the windmill. and although the color is spot on, might have benefited from a little boost in saturation for the hay. el

The hay bales help make this pic, masking the small distractions in the background, and balancing the shed and windmill, and making a nice rural scenic, especially if it is in the middle of town !

all cities should have farms built in. our local city farm provides a point of relaxation to the neighbours and allows city children to breathe.
like this picture as it evokes the old ways. maybe a sepia finish

I like the composition. The sky looks a bit dark and doesn't seem to go with the light on the hay bails. Was it darkened in pp? I love places like this that are tucked in between the bustle of the suburbs.

Don't you just hate power lines. Either lose or fully include the power pole on the rightNice scene, I have been trying to get a decent hay bale shot for a while, so I know you have done well here. Lovely to have this oasis in the middle of your city.

I was really drawn to the technical excellence of some of these shots and in the end rated them higher for that even though I think some others had a better subject or composition. This is so far, my no. 2 in the end. I like everything about it except I feel the barn structure is too centered in the shot. I feel there should be another 1/3 of the frame to the right that is missing. But still it is well done.
