Panasonic DMC-G1       15th place, 21 points
1/25s, ?, ISO 100, ?, Aperture Priority, Spot, no flash

Post-Processing: Photoshop CS2; levels, shadows and highlights, crop, unsharp mask       Extra Info: Almost full moon was taken with 200mm Soligor telephoto lens mounted on my G1 with an adapter, which resulted in an effective 400mm telephoto lens. A tripod was also used.

This is how the moon looks over Chicago - Robert? I would love to be able to get close up shots of the moon like this.

Its fun getting moon shots. Also hard.

I think at 400mm you have probably had to crop this significantly and that would account for the loss of quality. I remember trying this myself and I think I used a 1.7 teleconverted on a 420mm lens and still had to crop a lot.

On the positive side exposure, colour and detail are terrific.

I think you crowded your subject by cropping too tightly. I would have added more black sky to either side since I am not fond of circle in the square astronomy shots. But I am also bothered by the moon detail which seems pixelated and noisy. And not quite sharp though you are taking a full moon which is challenging. Still about 400x better than my moon shots!
