Mepo, it was the right word. A butterfly=perhonen, the butterflies=perhoset, there are butterflies= there are perhosia (undefinited form) (was that right?) |

Old Finn. I was worried that I might not have the correct word. I have retired Sherlock but I could not resist leaving a hint that I knew who had composed this beauty. I'm sure we don't have the Inachis io in North America - it is certainly a beauty. Now what is the difference between a perhoset and a perhosia ? |

Thank you all for the nice comments. Mepo: Inachis io is right. You seem to know the perhoset. |

Nice finish! I am still amazed at the detail you captured in the subject; it is so real and true to life it appears surreal! |

Well I'm glad it wasn't flowers and a dried butterfly! Nice capture. Perhaps a touch too much sharpening, but it could just be my monitor. Good Luck. |

Beautiful butterfly pic although maybe a bit "busy", the (otherwise beautiful) strong coloured flowers steal attention from the little beauty, agree the contrast is nice on the other side. Well done with a subject that for me is a real challenge, as I seem to be unable to get a decent butterfly pic myself :-) |

Beautiful colours - I personally like the contrast between the live flowers and the butterfly. |

Perhosia Inachis io I believe. The body seems a little blurred but I like the composition and the fact that you have shown the environment for this Peacock. Love that Northern light as usual. tt for sure. |

Nice capture of this Peacock Butterfly, nice colours and sharpness. It's a little unfortunate that the dead flowers are included in the shot, but still features high in my TT, good luck! |

Thanks Jade O. and Maike 13. The picture was taken in the garden of a country house on Rosala island on the south-western archipelago of Finland. The farmerīs wife is keeping there a cafe during the summers. Jaded O.: maybe I have too little contrast in the screen of this laptop of my summer place. Edited on Aug 15, 2010

Good eye. Love the contrast between the butterfly and the dead flowers. Makes for a beautiful shot. In my top five. |

This looks almost like a still life shot yet obviously it is a dynamic capture. There is a tension between the colours and I'm unsettled by the darkness of the subject against the brightness of the surroundings. Maybe a vignette effect would have helped. Still too good not to make my TT. |
