Congratulations Jussi! I'm sorry this was not in my votes, but I nevertheless like it!

Well done - I'm glad you explained how you did it - it explains why the droplets are on a misty background.

Thank you all for the nice comments!

Congratulations - well deserved.

This was my no. 1 pick. A fine image technically and for the challenge. Superb example of b&w.

Maybe a bit grainy for a macro but that even works well in BW, stunning detail on the bug and very original background... TT among a great competence, well done! :-)

great macro, ugly looking bug up close, but really well done, in my top 3

I am drawn to the almost x-ray like quality of this shot. Great visual interest. In my TT.

Well, my first time seeing a bug on ice. I assume it is alive and voluntarily took the chill, right? Though an unpleasant subject to me, the photo itself is superb. There is a little fuzziness on the rear legs, but not a big deal to me. The water droplets really add to this bug shot.

Fantastic shot. Love everything about it.

There are situations where B&W is by far the best choice for a photo - and I think this is one of them - There is nothing distracting me from the detail in the fly, and the beautiful pattern of the droplets.

Thanks for the nice comments! I donīt know, what it is, it was about 20 millimeters from nose to tail. Iīll send a bigger pic in colours to the forum.

I'd love to see this bigger. Wonderful image. I feel a high finish is certain.

Other "better" images all had, in my view, technical flaws or were obviously more suitably presented as colour images. This one appears flawless and while it may well look better in colour, I cannot identify the insect. By process of elimination, it ends up tentatively as my top pick.

Incredible! My #1

Thanks SeveBee. Not staged. A plastic bag of ice cubes was left on the ground for melting. Then I saw the insect on the bag and it didnīt bother of me trying to get near of it with my camera. Maybe its temperature was low and made itīs reactions slow.

Great image -- not sure if is staged or not, but doesn't matter. A top contender for sure. Good luck!
