Congratulations on your placement. It's so nice to enjoy the beauty of birds, especially during the winter when it's so bleak. We have a pair of Cardinals that come to our feeder every day.

I still think this should be no. 1. It is a fine image. (And I agree with Michael that "tit" is also known as a proper word for these creatures.)

Congratulations - Well deserved. The bird I was thinking of was your Great Tit on a plate in the mini 2009 challenge. I wouldn't worry about the name - that's the name it is know as in most of the English speaking world.

Great shot the subdued yellows of the bird harmonize well with the softness of the snow and the blurred background.

Great shot. Small birds are tough subject. Lighting and backgrounds are problematic and foregrounds often get in the way. You solved all the problems an have decent pose as well. Not sure how the lower leg is on branch but I assume the extended leg is hidden by the twig in front of it. No. 1.

Thanks forkcandles and Mepo. Mepo, in 2009, Rule of thirds, I had a picture of a Greater titmouse in the same plum tree, shot through the window like now too, with FZ20. This was taken with FZ28. We feed the birds, so we see them often. Sorry for the name of the pic. In my dictionary the English name is Great tit. Now I remember, that In American English that name is offending, or the subjects is wrong 8=)
