A hero deserves better       ©2011 Lo

Post-Processing: Cropped, brightened, sharpened and resized       Extra Info: Terry Fox is one of Canada's greatest heroes. His marathon across Canada to raise money for cancer research is a legacy that continues on, long after his death. So WHY is his statue relegated to an UGLY little corner in downtown Ottawa? This is one man who deserves our thanks and recognition.

I'm glad you can see the shamefulness of this situation. Parliament Hill is right across the street, with beautiful green lawns, and plenty of space. It would have been a more fitting tribute to put him there. Jade - I checked on the Cancer Society HQ and all I could find was Ontario HQ on St Clair Street in Toronto. Couldn't nail down the building using google. Raf - you're right - I was going to crop out the halo because it offended me - but decided that was part of the ugly.

I like the halo, and because I assume you framed it intentionally it rates highly for me.

Yes, you are right. A place in a park where people go to run would be an appropriate location.
Great finding!

This statue should be in a garden outside the CNN tower where visitors can see and marvel at this guys achievements. When cross Canada on the people airline greyhound you can the route he took. The picture also captures the modern ugliness of modern cities and also how awful government buildings can be.

An ugly tribute - don't remember seeing any footage of him running across urban plazas. This should be at the side of an open highway or somewhere meaningful - I don't suppose the plaza is in front of the national Cancer Society headquarters or anything by chance, is it? Hmm, the net says "Location, 90 Wellington Street, Ottawa (in front of the Capital Infocentre), across from the Parliament Buildings."
