Top Ten is this time equal to Upper Half;-)

With reduced shutter speed I could have increased the blur. But during shooting it is very hard to determine.

It was shot with standard program and makro setting. Meaning: I really was concentrated on catching a bee and not on do the best settings.

I didn't count my attempts. Some results showd a "sharp" bee, but overall I liked most the shot posted.

Completely agree and I tried it. But other crops showed distracting elements. And that is why I have chosen the central variant.

I - personally - neglected the "out of focus" thing for the composition. And - by the way - I just visited the Worldpress Foto 2011 exhibition last weekend: sharpness does not seem to be a k.o. criterium.

As said before: This shot was (and is) my personal favorite of a series of several shots due to the overall scenery.

That bee is sure laden with pollen. I love the way you can see the blur of his wings.

Tough shot to do well. A worthy effort here. What makes this shot so tough is the trade off at f8 you only get 1/800. You probably want a faster shutter to get a little more sense of the wings. But to do that you will lose DOF which is already limited. As I say tough to do well.

Very nice, but I would have cropped it less centrally, a bit off from the top and left side. Anyway, my number 1

This is so difficult to achieve! So for that reason alone, it is very good! But the bee, legs laden with pollen, is every so slightly out of focus, and that hurts this image a bit. And, my pet peeve, we are looking more at the backside which is not my favoured view!

I suppose we all have a shot something like this. However, this is a bit special with the bee highlighted against the white flower background. That sets it apart and gets it into my top favorites.
