  Mini#22 Best of 2011
Entry 4 of 40
round and round       ©2012 JaneyKay
Nikon D300       4th place, 140 points
30s, f10, ISO 200, 15mm, Manual, Spot, no flash
Post-Processing: Minimal ... I may have removed some blotches due to a dirty sensor and increased the blacks for the same reason.       Extra Info: I was taking photos around the pyramids whilst on a photowalk with friends. then these cyclists decided to enter the photo and ruin it ... as they came into the shot and then disappeared. Then, I decided to ask them to do the same thing, but this time to carry on around the pyramid rather than stopping half way. And this was the result.

JaneyKay, you're welcome. This is one of those shots I only wish I could capture. My first thought was, well, as I noted in my first comment, but my second thought was, "I've got to get a 15mm lens!" Of course, that was too soon followed by the realization that the lens doesn't make the photographer and even with the 15 mm and being in the same place at the same time, I doubt I would have ever got a shot anything like this. Makes me want to fly to Paris just to walk around and shoot with you hoping some of the magic might transfer.

I love it. The pyramide connects the ground with infinity.
Bike lights break the total symmetry, so the shot has no chance to get boring.

The light trails make for an interesting composition. Great idea to incorporate the cyclists into your photo.

I LOVE the lighting you captured in the pryamid and other buildings, but find the lights from the cyclists a detraction. Still in my top ten, however.

That 15mm lens does it! No. 1 in the thumbnails and no. 1 in my vote. The play with light in every element of this image takes in so far beyond my next choice that picking this as my no. 1 was easy! You could easily enter this in the 1x ranks and I think it would get in, it is that good.

I think that your effort was worthwhile. I like the colorful design quality of this interpretation. It has to be one of the most often and badly photographed subjects, but you have made it sing!

Well spotted a potential shot which improved the shot had I seen previously on other sites.
