Exit?       ©2012 sbjornda
Panasonic DMC-GH2       10th place, 101 points
1/160s, f5.6, ISO 800, ?, Normal Program, Pattern, flash

Post-Processing: Curves for high key; desaturate background       Extra Info: These lovely people dressed in black to protest Valentine's Day, since they were dateless at the time. I used a combination of sidelight from a window and fill flash. (This looks better in a good quality print than it does on the screen.)

I'm always comforted when raf and I agree on minor adjustments. Makes me think I'm learning something in this process. Fine top ten finish!

Had this one higher (#2 I think). Perhaps a few minor adjustments (get rid of Exit and crop to have it less centred). But a very nice image.

    I like the "opposites" used:
Bright windows on the left. Unlit windows on the right.
versus
Dark haired on the on the left. Light haired on the right.

Very well done in difficult light. The positioning of the subjects is very appealing to the viewer. Well done.

Well executed. I tried a different crop, but this was best in my opinion. In my favorites.

Love the concept. It's almost surreal.

So like the high-key element and so wish the exit sign weren't there. I really would have played with this one in PP to remove the exit (which is distracting from the subjects) and selectively whitened only that back wall (and square on the floor) to virtually blow out whiteness to really hammer home this evocative image. A bit cleaner and this could have vied for my no. 1 pick. As is, top 10.

This stands out as something special, even without the story. I think it's the combination of facial expressions, posture, and the placement in an almost invisible environment. My favorite of the favorites.

interesting shot. in my favorites for sure. and i bet it does print well.
having them centered would work a bit better if there were a bit more detail on the wall on the left. the windows on the right are just right and you could even mirror them onto the other wall space.
nice one.

Interesting situation ... without your explanation, it's not clear what's going on and why they are there. Quite enigmatic.

This is a good black and white image , I would have tried portrait rather than landscape.
