I'm glad you didn't remove the foliage around the nest. How sad that it was destroyed. Thank you for sharing it with us

Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I agree that the foliage obstructs the subject but this was the best position I could get in, and I opted not to chop away the leaves while the mother was gone. I kind of liked the harmony in colors and the "hidden" feel it gave. I watched the mother build the nest, incubate the eggs and feed the babies for about a month. Sadly just a few days after this shot was taken, some predator got to the nest and the babies were taken. So this is a very sentimental shot for me.

I think Mepo and raf sum it up best for me. Remarkable result given the situation.

    Timing perfect, nicely composed.

Kudos for capturing a very private moment. IMO a closer crop would have made the foreground less of a distraction.

Wow, tough shot. I would be happy with getting this

An unusual and very difficult shot to get. I love bird shots in natural context and emphasizing behavior. Nice job!

It's interesting how well your photo shows off the effectiveness of the bird's camouflage. At first I didn't like the foreground leaves but then I realized they give a better sense of the hidden quality of the nest.

Great to have such clarity in the shade! The colors are lovely. Would have been nice if that leaf had not blocked a large part of the bird, but fortunately the action was not obscured. Great timing! How many photos did it take to get one you liked?

Perfectly timed, well exposed, nicely framed.

the foliage spoils this one and maybe a crop to emphasis the bird.
these shots are so difficult to get and the lighting is so good on the bird
