Thanks guys (and gals!) And thanks to everyone for voting and commenting on all the photos in the challenge, I know how hard it was to pick a TT (it took me hours to vote this time), great to see so much participation and thought going into helping each other grow as photographers!

Perfect image for a beautifully processed black and white. The seperation of the foreground and background via DOF and your processing is very nice. I like the expression of the young lad looking towards your subject. One of my top picks in a very challenging field of images! Good Luck!

an excellent portrait shot, enhanced by the distracted expressions of the other subjects to his right, b&w is also well suited, great one and in my tt.

Scores very high in my voting. The expressions on the soldiers are great - especially the one on the far left. The b&w conversion was a a great idea.

This is my favorite photo of this challenge, er ahh (ooo this hurts) includeing my entry! Your crop, and processing are perfect! I love the guy in the back ground looking at your subject. I have a feeling your gonna get comments about the subject being over sharp... (maybe the tinyest of bit) ie his chin whiskers I might not see with my naked eye, but for me, I see the sweat and he's kinda (grungy) not really the word I was looking for but looks sweaty, tish dirty n like a solider should...

Nicely processed to focus attention on the young soldier. B&W is a great choice here

B&w was a great choice, and I love the gritty processing. I wish the third fellow down wasn't looking at the camera, I think I would have cropped the other two out or photoshopped a different person in there. I think it would work beautifully with just the subject.

hope he goes a long way .. the guy on the left is jealous of the attn but make the picture come alive

Interesting scene ... especially the different facial expressions. You wouldn't think it was a reinactment. Good choice of black and white (I like Silver Efex too). Yep, the right moment ... especially with the guy to left looking to see what's happening ..

Beautifully done. Terrific expressions and faces on both the subject and the background folk. Lovely tonality which is important in b&w. Would I have cropped a little tighter on the right? Maybe, but not an issue.

The look in the black soldier's eyes made it for me. Also, good highlights and contrast.

Great expression in the primary and secondary faces makes this compelling.

I immediately loved your subject, the lighting, your composition, and your tonality, but I felt the background was a little off somehow. I'm unsure whether the separate foreground and background processing is a factor but either way I would have darkened the background - so fine an image of your subject I want the two in the background to be pushed far into the background.

Super capture. The expression on the young soldier is great. He appears totally into the role with that 1000 yard stare. And the glance by the other young soldier in the b/g adds to the story.
Works well in B&W.

Just an excellent portrait. Good composition and dof. Excellent capture of the expression(s). The lighting helps put this high in my favourites.
