Through the Lion's Gate Bridge       ©2013 Jade O.
Panasonic DMC-FZ30       33rd place, 24 points
1/400s, f7.1, ISO 80, 35mm, Normal Program, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Two image stitch, rotate elements, selective cut, perspective, clone, flatten, resize, sharpen.       Extra Info: Picked this as "best" since it is one of the few pano's I've done which simply would not work in any other format. And the shooting conditions were challenging (moving people and moving boat). Unfortunately it loses all the impact in the downsizing but here it is anyway. Lastly, I've always wanted to legally fly under this bridge so here's proof I have!

(Suggestions for improvement welcomed.)

Yup, that would be me holding the camera! Personally, I think the hottest flier was the third guy in #4 who would've gone right through the fence if the gate wasn't open.

Just watched the video - I can't believe the guy who is just standing there as the jet goes over. Looks like the cameraman lost it! The ones over water are spectacular.

Lo I might admit it's exciting the first few times, then they start shooting at you. (Lol!) Still you need to see my youtube link posted in my reply to fc below (just click and it should open).

Michael That's does it! I challenge you a duel to retain my honour - choose your dueling green beers on St. Paddy's!

Jeez Jade - not all of us fly upside down in our day jobs! I can get excited at the thought of no cooking and no dishes for a week!

Thanks, Ronoz. In a perfect world we should have a separate category for voting in degree of difficulty, most remarkable incident captured, etc., lol! What let this one work was the scale; fast boat but large ship and the bridge is grand and distant - but in two successive shots taken as quick as I could, I still had to do a lot to move the other bridge half into proper position.

Lo I actually hate cruises since they're the furthest thing from heading out to sea for real adventure that I can imagine but it's just my own take on it. I do wish I liked it more.

Michael. Are you sure you're not Irish? I mean I've heard a lot of blarney but...lol! Thanks for commenting without inflicting any wounds!

This is one of those - Wish I'd taken that' photos. Never even thought of taking a pano when onboard - it worked out very well! Another shot where I'm going to love the new file size limit. Super shot with a feeling that I'm right there on board.

fc http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Dr2ZB36p9Y #4 is my favourite. Of course, I have never ever done anything like this, lol!

raf I noted the sense of lean and wonder if it is a perspective issue since the centre checks vertical. Or maybe it has more to do with the fact Francesco Schettinos was captain that day....

A pano of a moving subject. Well done!. It feels slightly tilted to the left and of course the sun coming into the left washes that out a little (perhaps a software grad filter could help there)
