Congratulations - great finish. Great to see a new member jumping right in to the forum, and making comments on the entries.

Congratulations John and welcome to the site. It's so great to have a new member who comments as much as you have on other entries. Good comments are what keep me on this site - it's such a great way to learn. I will check out your outtakes for sure. Make sure you check out the older Pany FZ30 and 50 cameras - they were the last to have the twist lens function for zoom and manual focus. They also have a terrific flip out LCD. I've had to give up some thingsfrom my SLR days but don't regret not having to carry a load of baggage anymore and tend to have my camera (and zoom) with me and ready a lot more frequently. I'm sorry (joking) to see doto has one now (see his main winner comments)

Welcome John. I'm glad to have you join us here at Panachallenge. Great job on your first entry! And yes please do share the color version. I'll be posting mine up too in the next few days. Now it's late and I have to get up at 4am. Again, welcome aboard!

I started outtakes in the forum, have a colour version and others I took during the challenge if anyone is interested.

Thanks

Thanks mrsawyer, I heard about panachallenge many years ago but never had a look. Few weeks ago stumbled upon it, liked what was going on here and decided to join hope you don't mind :-).

Loved the water in this one! Congrats on your 2nd place finish in your 1st Panachallenge. (Saw some of your work on Fujimugs.)

Lovely winter woods and atmosphere. The greys are perfect. A top pick.

This has been one of my favourites from the first. The image has great depth and the contrast and detail in the foreground are very well chosen. Congrats for getting out in the bad weather and bringing this home.

The mist really adds depth to the photo, and brings out the detail in the foreground

    First Impression - 5/5
Contrast - 5/5
Composition - 5/5
Tone / Texture - 5/5

Good contrast between the water and the snow, like the way you have managed to capture the texture in the slumping snow in the centre of the image.

I love the misty trees in the background but the image is spoiled by the diagonal trees in the foreground.

I love this. Wonderful composition. Perfectly rendered in B&W.

There is something very appealing to me about this composition. I'm usually much more angular and straight forward in composition. But the angle of the trees crossing over the water is great. Very nice composition and processing to go with. The mist in the background makes me realize it must have been quite cold!

I like the misty ambiance here. Maybe a tad too much contrast. I like the composition too.

Pleasant winter scene. In my top ten. The foggy background adds a nice touch.

Great control on the exposure- keeping details in the water and the snow. It is too bad with that tree right in the middle, but still a very nice shot.

In woods shots are difficult but you've managed to capture a lot here in a 46mm field of view without looking like the shot is crowded.
