Hi Peanut, gimp is an excellent and very powerful photo processing tool. It has tons of functions within and opens up a huge new playground. If your main reason for getting another software is resizing, rotating, cropping, sharpening and some color/brightness modifications, than you also should have a look at Faststone Image Viewer like Jade mentioned.

I have been playing with Gimp, finally managed to get it downloaded. It looks very impressive, I have managed to downsize a photo, so that is a start. The rest will require a deal of research

Mepo suggested trying GIMP. It works pretty much like Photoshop but is a free download. The learning curve can be a little steep until you get the hang of it, but there are tons of tutorials on the web. Once you understand how to make layers (placing one image on top of another like you open several webpages on the same computer screen, things progress quickly. If you want simpler Post Processing software to start, you could try Faststone Image Viewer, another free download with an easier to use drop down menu which also allows you to resize images.

it is very natural, but i'm afraid it does not grab me as a subject.

I get the feeling that I would like to see more. The highlights in the background distract my eye but when I look there I want to see more. I do like the small amount of green which seems to emphasize the destruction.

This fits the theme and is a good photograph, but I think the subject lacks interest.
