Hi Peanut, just an idea: if you crop away the upper half of your shot, putting the emphasis towards all these beautiful light reflections on the water surface, it would help the beholder to see the natural beauty of this scene, imho.

Have you tried GIMP? Jade uses it and produces some spectacular stuff. It's free too. If you need any help or have any questions about it I'm sure he/she would help. Jade's article on re-sizing in GIMP is in the 'Tips' forum.

I was assisted with my first entry by the very helpful administration on this site. I have been reading the hints on resizing and have so far unsuccesfully tried to download some photo editing programs

I looked at your first entry. I don't think it was too large! Looking forward to your next entries!

Seems the muddy river is too brightly lit to see any detail in it. Also I suggest the longest side of your submission be at least 800 pixels long. This entry is very small compared to most. Good luck in the voting.

I like the framing and the light. Needs more detail though.

My first entry last month was way to large. I think I might have over compensated

The image is a little muddy too which in this case might actually be playing to proper effect. It looks a little too downsized though and I think that will hurt it in the voting; there is a Tips forum for resizing entries. This would look better if it were larger.
