Not from Julian Opie's Winter series       ©2013 kerszkavet
Panasonic DMC-FZ150       5th place, 112 points
1/1000s, f4.5, ISO 100, 25mm, Aperture Priority, Pattern, no flash
Post-Processing: PSE11 Cutout filter achieves the main look. Selective burning and dodging beforehand and some changes in shadows/highlights. Path in a duplicate layer with cutout filter re-applied for extra smoothing       Extra Info: Julian Opie is best known for his Blur album cover and other portraits, but he recently released an incredible series of landscapes called Winter, where he took a number of photos as he walked along a path, then gave them a beautiful treatment which I've tried to copy here.

Opie's website is not working, but if you google images for Julian opie winter and look at the fourth image, you'll see the inspiration for this attempt.

Wow - very impressive. You've really achieved Opie's look using post processing.

thanks everyone for the positive comments...

what is interesting about the winter series was how it was presented - as stills, but also as slideshow creating a sense of movement. opie acknowledges Google's Streetview as an inspiration.

the gallery looked amazing... a knot of people stood in the middle and slowly rotated....

elliott.... i'll agree re South Park... i'm not a fan of opie's earlier landscapes, the winter series has more subtlety.

found the image (a lot of his work looks like background for 'south park' animation). you did great. what ever magic you did worked perfectly. high in my favorites.

Nice interpretation, If I didn't know could believe its a paiting and not a photograph. Well done.

I know of his work and found his 'Promenade' in Calgary, Alberta mesmerizing. I had not seen this series and think you did an excellent job of copying it. Very well done and very attractive result.

Very good copy of the artist's technique. I'm amazed you could pull this off, and, I think you've out-Opied Opie. This is better!
