OMG, Jade. I think you are right! I just did a Google image search of "church pews" and a page with at least 450 images of church pews appeared (with more available, if I wanted)!!!

Yikes . . . who wooda thunk? Ah, but mine, you see, is the only one with my special "distracting background". Ha!

Congrats! Too common means, I think, that the image is not of an uncommon subject nor of a particularly enlightening or unique take which reveals something we never saw before, which is not to take away from the quality of the image from a technical standpoint.

Congrats on your top 5 finish. I like the way you made the low light work for you.

DOTO: what do you mean by "too common"?

FORKCANDLES: as I told Jade in the main challenge . . . "distracting backgrounds are my specialty" LOL! I was hoping, however, that there were others like me who felt that the soft colors and blurred background enhanced, rather than distracted from this image.

OLD FINN: I was so close to the pews, a smaller aperture didn't increase the DOF enough to unblurr the background -- plus the interior of the church was fairly dim, so I needed to gather as much light as possible . . . which is why the larger f/1.8 aperture was used.

Did you try a smaller aperture?

the picture needs to be cropped using the back of the last pew on the left as the guide line. It makes more of the pews and removes the distraction elements of busy [many] soft colours behind

Nice one. I enjoyed the blurred back ground that promises great richness in contract to the simple utility of the pews.

Nicely done, but maybe a little too common to be special, still one of the best in the challenge.

Technically superior, you've made the most of this subject.

I really like the angle and color on this one. The focus is good, too.

What a simple composition, love the blurred background. This I think is my no. 1.
