  #135 One-second Exposure
Entry 8 of 20

Earthlight       ©2013 wrosenthal
Panasonic DMC-FZ150       8th place, 116 points
1s, f4.1, ISO 800, ?, Shutter Priority, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Cropped, exposure adjustments and slight sharpening.       Extra Info: I have always been intrigued by the light reflected from Earth on the non-sunlit portion of the moon. This is a riff on that theme, with the actual earthly lights of the city beneath.

Congratulations. I had this as my top pick. I'm going to try and reproduce it someday - I share your intrigue with the hidden side of the moon.

Nice choice to use the crescent moon. The branches add a nice depth, and the city lights add interest.

Not sure what you are seeing, Jade. The shot is 800x500 pixels. I cropped off about 100 pixels of black from the bottom. In slide show mode it looks to me about the same size as many of the other entries.

Beautiful shot; a little larger would look better; I am unsure why you resized so small.

Lovely shot. I particularly like the branches surrounding the moon and the slight cloud across the ace of the moon. Perfect exposure.

A good moon and city lights combination. A difficult composition to pull off.

one of my favorite moon shots. so many seem to go with the full moon. this one is great. you've got craters and the 'dark side of the moon'.
