Comet PanSTARRS       ©2013 ysal
Panasonic DMC-GF1       13th place, 83 points
2s, f5, ISO 100, 168mm, Manual, Pattern, no flash

Post-Processing: Adjusted exposure, brightness, color saturation, denoised, cropped with PS Elements.       Extra Info: This is my best of 2013 not so much for the image quality but because it was a once in a life time opportunity and I got it. The Comet PanSTARRS was next to the crescent moon for only one night. I had to be on a business trip that night, so I requested a west facing hotel room and captured it through the window.

Thank you very much for all the nice comments, everyone! I work in the aerospace industry so any astro photography is very special to me.

Congratulations on capturing this fleeting moment. The colours in the sky are beautiful and your silhouetted horizon lifts it out of the ordinary. Very well done!

So great that you had a clear sky for the appearance of the planet. Excellent exposure.
