Trestle Bridge       ©2014 Edward
Nikon D7100       7th place, 111 points
1/350s, f6.7, ISO 100, 24mm, Manual, Center Weighted Average, no flash

Post-Processing: Merged 3 photos using PhotoShop CS5; added fill light; increased vibrancy and contrast; applied tone mapping.       Extra Info: Near as I can ascertain, this railroad bridge was completed in 1876, and had been used continuously until approximately 2007 when the particular rail line that had been using it was discontinued.

Thank you, Elliott. I was hoping you'd report on what happened with your entry on the "other" site. Interesting that my non-HDR version of the lighthouse did better there than the HDR version here.

This is overlooking the village of Capitola on the Monterey Bay, California. Intriguing suggestion, Elliott. It might be something I would have tried, but I'm afraid that the area on the other side of the trestle is a steep hill, filled with poison oak, bushes and brambles - with no place to situate either myself or my equipment safely. Where I took the picture was part of a developed walking trail.

just my thoughts.... i like the processing but i'm more intrigued by the possible view of the town below from just on the other side of the trestle. the trestle could still be complete on the left of your pano, and that great early morning (or afternoon) light on the waterfront town could be exploited more fully. where is this.

Like the view here, think the HDR has made this a little unnatural.

Not a fan of tone mapping usually but here it just works. Nice pano; nice interpretation.
