Wow - I can't believe my hero would try and slice a hard boiled egg in it's shell. I mean you learn not to try that just after you start putting one foot in front of the other. As for timing them - well it's a bit like pulling out of a loop - better to be a lot late rather then a wee bit too soon.

So now you've got a kitchen full of eggs, the dinner invitations start . . . don't think we didn't guess LOL

Looking forward to the outtakes - re: dinner - if you can soft boil the eggs, we'll handle the Hollandaise sauce.

mrsawyer I wondered about the yolk but it was close to that colour. I think the blown elements of the rest of the shot contribute to the "off" effect.

kerszkavet I'll post something in outtakes just for you.

eagle1 I admire your shots so it's especially good to hear your positive comments.

The photo is quite creative! The color in the broken egg seems a bit too enhanced.

i think this is a really interesting image, and it would be good to hear about it in out-takes.

Wow! Great choice for a high key shot. Wonderful composition and detail, with the gradient of light around the eggs and the splash of yellow. One of my top picks.

ysal I agree about the noise. The artifacts may be the spilling yolk and broken egg white.

Interesting shot. Some strange artifacts around the yellow yoke and bit too much noise on the other eggs.

Bill, wish I was around to play with negative paper. I wonder if it was more fun then just because it took so much more effort to get this kind of result.

Lo, I had two dozen plus 3 to play with if I recall. 22 eggs in the image (I think counting the partials).

Michael, if you can figure a way to cleanly slice an eggshell without using a Dremel tool, let me know! I was trying for a hard boiled egg but somehow mistimed the cooking. I'll have to have you and Lo over for dinner one night!

fc Tougher to get a good yolk colour than I thought.

mariac Sure hope you aren't the only one. Thanks!

Nice PP! Reminds me that inversion in the old days could only be done by printing on negative paper. It's a favorite for me.

Just out of curiosity, how many eggs did you actually photograph. I must say, I tried to pick out a pattern in the overlay, but couldn't. Really creative!

The composition works well but brings my eye to an egg with dirty cracks and yolk on the outside of the shell. I think a cleanly sliced hard boiled egg at that location would have been better - everything else looks so pristine. I do like the white shadows with some blown right out - very inventive.

like this very much with the colour of the egg prominent

Very creative with interesting composition and perspective, a top pick for me.
