Thanks for the positive feedback comments and to all who voted for this photograph. It was a thrill that this worked out as well as it did. I was on the balcony of the 8th floor of a building and a considerable distance from the action. As I had to lean out over the railing to frame the shot and avoid part of the neighbouring balcony there was no option but to hand hold the camera. The light was fading rapidly, the group was dispersing. I had to wait for just three paddlers in frame and hope to catch them mid-stride by which time I knew there would be camera shake...even my legs were getting wobbly! Checking the settings was not an option at that stage. Somehow it came together and I can kid myself that the movement enhanced the action!

Congratulations Joanna - it takes a great eye to see the potential in a shot like this.

Love the mood set by the lighting/color. I also like the use of the diagonal slope from upper left to lower right. Looks a bit grainy, but I assume that is on purpose and it doesn't hurt the mood.

You have captured the light and action beautifully. I can feel the whole scene.

Love the angular composition and the light. Possibly a bit of camera shake at that speed with a long lens but the timing of your shot was perfect for the wave pattern. The 'blown' area works very well to import the close of the day.

Lovely atmospheric photograph. Very nice with the three subjects.

This caught my eye right away. I like the composition, lines, and lighting. I wish there were just a wee bit of separation between two of the kayaks. This should do very well.

I love the colors and texture of the wet sand and the longboards adding the great diagonal lines. Beautiful shot, one of my top picks.

Beautiful and well composed monochromatic image. I'm sure this will get high marks! Good Luck!

The varying shades of the water, and the random position of the boats make for a very interesting composition.

The picture content would have been better if sharpened

I love this picture. The composition is nicely framed by the beautiful monochromatic colors in the wave layers. Really nicely done. Sharp clear and beautifully captured.

Beautifully lit. I sense 1/80s was too slow or 648mm to long to get the sharpness I think is needed here. Overall this passes but I sense the outline of the figures at least need to be razor sharp.

Love the composition and the cool atmosphere. Great ''blue hour'' shot.
