I've never seen a photo of a bird in this position! The focus is a bit soft on the face. The colors are quite appealing. I think a 4:3 frame would have fit this subject better, thus eliminated some negative space on both sides.

Nice composition, seems a little soft though.

What a cute little bird. Well captured.

Looks like his head is on backwards! Good that you have not placed the bird dead center and that the background is nicely blurred. Perhaps a little overexposed and could be sharper.

I can never get over how birds can turn their heads around like that! Beautiful detail and colouring, perfect DOF - and a zany expression

What a precious shot! He seems to have a slight frown as to say "What are you looking at". Beautiful and rare capture for sure!

Love the colours in this shot, and the angry look in the little birdie's eyes!

not a lot of tree swallow but acres of green background.

Photographer using rule of thirds capturing bird using rule of thirds sitting on post. Nicely composed! Also, I love the symmetry of the bird looking straight back at the viewer emphasizing the vertical lines of the body and post grains against the horizontal lines of the post top and composition. Tack sharp exposure, beautiful colors, great use of aperture. So nicely done. :)

First you have to get it technically right and you have that here - clean natural perch, good lighting, detail, colour, sharpness, and a clean natural non-distracting background. To move to the next level you then have to get a surprising or unusual pose. You've got that here. Congratulations on a great shot- simple, whimsical, documentary, natural. High on my list.
